A Tribute to Our Beloved Horses
Winter Brook Farm is a place where horses come to thrive, and many of them have left their hoofprints on our hearts. This page is dedicated to the memory of our special equine friends who have passed away.
Each horse who has called Winter Brook Farm home has brought something unique to our community. They were all loved and cherished members of our barn family, and they will be deeply missed.
Red
Quarter Horse | 16hh | 34 years oldRed's double devil - AKA Red - Red is a 34 year old, 16h, Sorel AQHA registered Quarter Horse. Red is a former western show horse, lesson & trail horse. Red can be a devil when he wants, but age has slowed him down. He is a leisurely old man now, and no longer works. He has Cushings and Navicular, but is pain free and doing well. He is Mr. Personality, and is definitely the personable one in the barn. He loves to be groomed, almost as much as he loves his mushies. In Red's free time, he loves spending time with his girlfriend Sugaree, and can often be found licking his wall for fun.
Sugaree
Quarter HorseA beautiful Bay AQHA Quarter horse. Sugaree, is a former polo pony, and was unfortunately injured during training. She was rehabbing in RI prior to coming to WBF. Sugar is now fully healed, and a part of our beloved lesson string. She is both sweet & spicy. In her spare time, Sugie can be found cruising the outdoors with her boyfriend Red.
Cora
Thoroughbred | 17hhYes I Can Can (Cora) - Cora is a 17 year old OTTB Bay Mare. A former racing horse, she proved to be too much for her previous owner, and was rehomed to WBF. She is a lot of horse to ride, not for a beginner rider. She needs to be worked down before riding, to ensure you have a pleasant ride. She is a beautiful jumper. Cora absolutely loves her treats, or really just eating in general.
Stacey
Pony | 11hhStacey - A 11h White and Bay Mare Pony (although she'd try to convince you she is all bay, after she's been outside to roll) Stacey is a former Amish horse who was left outside for quite a while. She had horrible, overgrown hooves, when her previous owner rescued her. After a lot of love, and work, Stacey's owner got her feet looking and feeling good again. When her owners husband accepted a new position out of state, her owner offered Stacey to stay with WBF, rather than put her through moving again. She is now a very adorable edition to the Winter Brook Farm lesson program. She is as sassy as she is sweet. Stacey is a beginner friendly lesson pony.
Luna
Percheron Cross | 16hh | 11 years oldA 11 year old, 16hh Black Percheron crossbred Mare. Luna is the newest addition to the barn, just joining in October, 2025. She was recently purchased at Crowleys auction in MA. Luna is very good tempered and super sweet. She has already acclimated really well, and has even given her first beginner rider lesson.
Apollo
Quarter Horse | 20 years oldApollo - Red Dunn Quarter Horse gelding, in his 20s. Apollo and his best friend Mustard, were owned by an elderly couple. They were very loved, and their previous owners were even wed on their backs. Due to the declining health of their owners, they were no longer able to ride them. Both Apollo and Mustard were western pleasure horses. Apollo currently has a rotated coffin bone, which WBF is working on rotating back the right way. We have no doubt he will make a great lesson horse, once he is all healed up.
Mustard
Quarter Horse | 17hhA beautiful Palomino Quarter Horse gelding, lovingly referred to as ``the Barbie Pony``, is thought to also be in his 20s. Mustard came to Winter Brook Farm with a bad case of thrush from living outside, which is now healed. He joined Winter Brook Farm the same time as his Best Friend Apollo. Mustard is arthritic, but with a little pain meds, and lots of TLC he is now joining our lesson horse program. Both Mustard and Apollo are absolute sweethearts, that absolutely love attention.
Ichabod
Quarter Horse | 24 years oldSticky Icky has a unique personality. He is a 24 year old quarter horse, but doesn't believe that. He is silly and stubborn. He will so a cha-cha for a treat or dress up like a unicorn to make people smile. Icky has sixth sense, stubborn as he is, if someone is nervous or having a bad day he has the patience of a saint. We can not promise his attitude at any other time. He loves to sunbathe on a nice warm day or play in his water like a new toy. He is a bit of an escape artist, finding a way to remove a gate or sneak under a battier to get to the next patch of green grass, but who could be mad at this cute face?

Lulu
Nigerian DwarfAn elderly Nigerian Dwarf goat, is a goat we've had for many years at Winter Brook Farm. While we originally started with 3 dwarf goats, with time and aging, Lulu is the last remaining goat of the trio at Winter Brook Farm. She is very old, but still enjoys her walks, and her companion Rosie, and trying her hardest to sneak out of her stall at any given moment.
Rosie
Jacob's Sheepan Elderly Jacob's sheep, with 4 horns, one of which is broken. She was a surrender from an elderly owner to Carly's critters, along with a few other animals as well. While Carly rehomed the majority of the animals, she kept a few for her petting zoo. Carly gave one of the Jacob's sheep, Rosie, to WBF to give company to an elderly goat named Lulu. They are like the little odd couple, with their bickering, but they love each other. While she was previously able to roam the farm, she is now on house arrest, after helping herself to winter Brooks neighbors grass. Rosie's favorite pass time is eating saltines like it's nobody's business.
